Though just beginning in June, the Perth Study Circle has already held two meetings, Thomas Gourlay reports. During the initial session, the group discussed two articles from the Winter 2011 issue: David L. Schindler’s editorial, “The Repressive Logic of Liberal Rights: Religious Freedom, Contraceptives, and the ‘Phony’ Argument of the New York Times,” and David S. Crawford’s article, “On the Condom Controversy.” According to Mr. Gourlay, “both articles were found to be very interesting and spurred some wonderful discussions.”

During their second meeting, the group shared their thoughts on articles from the Spring/Summer 2012 issue: “The Significance of Vatican II” by Francis Cardinal George and Rev. José Granados’s “The Body, the Family, and the Order of Love: The Interpretive Key to Vatican II.” While both proved sufficiently challenging to the group, they “provided great insight to what is at the heart of the teachings of the Second Vatican Council and its meaning for the evangelical mission of the Church in the world today.”

The Perth Circle looks forward to further increasing their membership and discussing articles from the Fall 2012 issue during their next meeting.
