This year marks the tenth anniversary of the death of American painter William Congdon (1912-1998), whose work is beautifully brought together with Cardinal Ratzinger's reflections on Holy Saturday in the book, The Sabbath of History.

In honor of Congdon's life and work, this month Communio features our Summer, 1986 issue, which includes a short meditation by Congdon, "An Artist, His Art, and the Christian Community," in addition to Ratzinger's article, "Interpretation-Contemplation-Action," Cardinal Kasper on "Church as 'Communio,'" Bruaire on "The Being of Spirit and the Holy Spirit," and Scheffczyk on "The Meaning of the 'Filioque.'"
